Agemark’s Laura Thelen was recently named a finalist for a 2019 Inspire Award, which recognizes women leaders in Lincoln, Nebraska, who have excelled as leaders and role models. Thelen was named a top-five finalist in the Excellence in Health Care division.
A true servant leader, Laura Thelen has spent her 28-year nursing career providing loving care for seniors in Lincoln, including 23 years caring for those with dementia and Alzheimer’s.
Since 2009, Thelen has served as director of CountryHouse Residence for Memory Care on 84th and Pine Lake Road. Laura’s passion is ensuring that those with Alzheimer’s or dementia are not treated differently simply because they have been diagnosed with a disease beyond their control. She has effectively led her teams to integrate activities tailored to the interests and backgrounds of her seniors resulting in exceptional and compassionate care.
Laura enjoys golf, gardening, photography and raising chickens on the acreage she shares with her husband Joedy. Laura and Joedy have two grown daughters, Jordyn and Kelcee, both of Omaha. Much of her free time is spent serving as “Lala” (Grandma) to her twin grandsons, Logan and Gabe.
